We are delighted to present the 2019 Cashiers Designer Showhouse. This year’s Showhouse will take place from July 24th to August 4th at a rustic cabin home nestled at the foot of a mighty mountain. Embodying the true nature of the mountains of North Carolina, this year’s Showhouse is a step back from the hustle and bustle of big city life, and a leap into a relaxing getaway cabin in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. The cabin and its 26 acre property open an abundance of opportunities for our local and visiting designers, in collaboration with the Cashiers Historical Society and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Magazine, to harness the beauty of this wonderful location.

This year, the Cashiers Designer Showhouse welcomes you to the beautiful Black Rock Preserve. The cozy and rustic get-away cabin sits on 28 acres of farm land and the former Cosper’s Flower Farm. All of this beautiful acreage sits, nestled into the base of the looming Black Rock mountain. This Showhouse is truly a departure from the previous Showhouses, and a return to the roots of what it means to be in the Western North Carolina mountains.
Inspired by the raw beauty of the property and the rustic cabin, designers from near and far have worked effortlessly to turn this home and stable house into a home to behold! In addition to this, the 2 week long event will be full of demos, live paintings, fly fishing guides, and a plethora of many other festivities you will not want to miss out on. Starting off the event is the July 24th Horse Cove Social and Preview Night party, followed by the rest of the week of events, finally coming to an end on August 4th. We hope you enjoy a Day in the Country with this year’s Cashiers Designer Showhouse!

ABOUT THE CASHIERS
HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The Cashiers Historical Society was established in 1996 to preserve and protect the village identity and heritage of Cashiers Valley through education, stewardship and advocacy. Each year we produce and present the Cashiers Designer Showhouse, our largest fundraising endeavor.Your generosity and support of this important event help us continue and further our mission. Here are just a few of the highlights from the past year and what’s ahead at CHS:

Heritage Apple Day: In early spring, a talented team of staff, volunteers and experts host this daylong event. Attendees learn how to plant and groom heritage trees, helping to ensure the livelihood of the varieties that nourished our forefathers. We provide the rootstocks and scions used for grafting at no charge and everyone gets to take home a tree to plant in their yard or garden. This year’s event also featured live music, kids’ activities and a photo booth for attendees to capture the memories of the day.

Zachary-Tolbert House Open for Tours: Since the Zachary-Tolbert House has completely finished being restored as well as the upstairs being completed with its furnishings, the entire house is now open for tours! The ZT House is open Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 3pm. Once you are finished at the Showhouse, drop by and take a tour of one of the oldest standing structures in Jackson County!
Lecture series continues: The Cashiers Historical Society calendar for 2018 featured anew historical lecture series at the Dowden Pavilion on the Zachary-Tolbert Grounds. This year, it continues with a broader array of guest lecturers! Each speaker will discuss a topic historically relevant to the Cashiers Valley. This year’s featured speakers include local historian John Barrow, professor of music at Western Carolina University, Dr. Will Peebles, and resident arborist Trevor Howard.
